The LeadEarth program was founded with the aim of bridging between different perceptions and approaches to self identity and Judaism. We believe that through learning together, group discussions, personal experiences and significant encounters, we can challenge our outlook on life and gain a better understanding of who we are and what our purpose in life is.

In a world of infinite identities – we are Jewish, citizens, human beings, male or female and a thousand other things. The LeadEarth program refrains from dictating what your identity should be. Rather, we provide you with the environment to explore and find the identities which make up the whole "you".

Take a journey with us to explore you:
- Jewish and identity studies through a personal, pluralistic experience
- Examination of issues of self identity such as “who am I?” and “what is my purpose in life” through group and one-on-one discussions
- A critical examination of the relationship between the global village concept and religious, national and geographical affiliation
- Interaction with people of different faiths and cultures as a source of personal growth and development.

The LeadEarth program includes a five-month training program in Israel, three months of field work in India and a closing seminar to prepare participants for further professional work and studies.

During the first five months of the program, participants live in Ramat Hagolan (Golan Heights), where you will study and volunteer. Here you will receive professional training in the fields of sustainable ecological development and project management.

In the second part of the program, volunteers will travel to the Tamil Nadu state of India where you international volunteer community and work with grassroots NGOs, including the Center for Culture and Development (CCD) and Sadhana Forest.

These organizations, together with an Adam LeAdam professional team leader, guide the volunteers in the initiation, development and operation of community projects, while focusing on promoting environmental awareness through informal education.

As LeadEarth graduates, you will receive ongoing support to enable you to sustain social and environmental involvement and activities in India or in your home community.

What is MASA Leadearth?

MASA LeadEarth is an eight-month Tikkun-Olam leadership/volunteering program for young professionals who wish to gain experience in the fields of social action, community empowerment and environmental and international development.

The LeadEarth program is aimed at developing social and environmental projects in Israel and India. MASA LeadEarth is designed to foster social entrepreneurs in the fields of environmental sustainability and informal education and enable them to acquire the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to initiate, develop and lead projects in their own communities and in developing countries. LeadEarth offers professional training, personal growth, self empowerment and a unique opportunity to initiate, develop and lead community projects.

This program operates under the auspices of the MASA organization, which offers scholarships to participants for volunteering programs in Israel. Masa LeadEarth was the only program to be selected as a model program by the Masa “Incubator” project.

MASA LeadEarth offers you the opportunity to create and manage YOUR OWN social and environmental entrepreneurship project while living and exploring Israel, and later implement it in India with volunteers like you from all over the world.

We believe that volunteering is not something to be taken lightly; rather, it’s a path that leads into a whole realm of research, learning, and trial and error, all aiming to find the right solution to the challenges at hand.
We believe that volunteering truly makes a difference when it leaves a mark long after we’ve left for home, and we know this is possible only if we work together with local communities, respecting its members, learning about their needs and making use of their ancestral knowledge – this is the bedrock of our program.
We offer you the opportunity to make a real difference – not just volunteer.

With us, you can:
- Plan, initiate and lead community improvement projects – use your knowledge to respond to the needs of local communities.
- Learn about the monumental challenges that communities in India are facing and join our professional advisors in the effort to find community-specific solutions.
- Take part in the construction of the ecological educational training center for the children of the local Dalit community.
- Help make kindergartens greener.
- Plan and construct an ecological structure using local materials, while taking into account the local weather conditions, climate and fauna and flora.

What is MASA Leadearth?

If you are serious about our program, we'd love to have you aboard to this amazing opportunity, once in a life time experience, and a journey that continues with you for the rest of your life.

Here are the steps you need to go through in order to be part of the program. It's simple, really, and we'll accompany you throughout the entire registration process:

Step 1: Apply for MASA Grant

Everyone needs to start here. Click HERE to apply.
Please note: The dates in MASA's website are not updated. Just choose the month of the session you'd like to apply to, and we'll change to year manually after the registration process starts.
If you get an immediate answer that you can't apply - please fill in This form

Step 2: Let's get to know each other

We'll contact you to get to know you better and answer any question you might have

Step 3: Pay the registration fees

Click HERE to pay the 50 USD non-refundable registration fees

Step 4: Get Ready for your Interview

Send an email to david@adamleadam.org with this information:
- An attached file with you CV (resume);
- An attached file of a short essay (up to 400 words) which explains us why you think
you should be part of MASA LeadEarth' journey
- Write us a range of preferable times for us to contact you (via the phone) to make
the interview

Step 5: An Acceptance Interview with a senior staff members of MASA LeadEarth

This important step takes about 30-45 minutes. You'll receive a final answer from us within 5 working days

Step 6: Pay the 1st payment of the program's cost

Click HERE for the details to transfer the first payment of 700 USD via money order only.
The rest of the payments will be charged when the session starts and after you get answers about MASA and Adam LeAdam scholarships.

The total cost of the program is 11,600 USD.
However, after finishing the registration process we can help you to reach out to many sources of funds and scholarships, including the funds from Jewish federations and organizations, that place great importance on fostering the next generation of community leaders and social entrepreneurs. We will be happy to offer you a need-based scholarship as well, if needed.

Please remember that if you finish the registration process as soon as possible (usually not suppose to take more than 3 weeks), you will have more time to explore scholarships options, in addition to MASA.

After average coverage of grants and scholarships, your cost for this program should be about 890 USD per month.

What does this cost include?
The cost includes nearly everything: Airfare to India, field work and projects in Israel and in India, program expenses, accommodations, academic level studies, courses, trips and excursions, transportation in Israel, medical insurance, professional support teams in India and Israel, diplomas and much more.
The cost does not include the visa process to India, personal expenses and the airfare to Israel.

What is MASA Leadearth?

A community is more than just a group of people that think alike and live together. A community is first and foremost a peer group which encourages its members to be themselves and to grow and evolve.

We still believe in communal living.
We believe that despite Facebook and Twitter, human contact, personal communication, sharing experiences, listening to one another and supporting each other still means a lot to people. This is why the essential element of our program is the establishment of a community, its integration with communities in Israel and India and the interaction with other forms of communities which represent creative models to the question “what are we doing together?”

- Be part of an international volunteer community living on an ecological farm in India.
- Take part in a joint venture and live, learn and work on local communities in southern India.
- Be part of a group of Israelis and Jews who will establish a study and work community in Israel and in India, by themselves and for themselves.
- Live and study in Auroville – an international model which is endorsed by the UN and international governments and serves as a unique model for a international entrepreneurship community.

We believe that even when engaged in the most intensive activity, we all need our private space and an opportunity for fun and enrichment in order to clear our mind in the midst of the program’s hectic schedule. For this end, we made sure participants receive whatever they need to feel at home, away from home:

- Spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms, a kitchenette for each apartment and a wireless internet connection
- Accommodations on Kibbutz in the Golan Heights – a community that integrates agriculture, tourism and community life
- The living units are located in the “young” area of the kibbutz where you can socialize and hang out with local residents your age
- On the kibbutz are a swimming pool, a boutique vineyard, a chocolate factory, lawns, football and basketball courts, a local pub, bicycle trails, mountains and infinite nature, all located in one of Israel's most beautiful areas.

We invite you to venture out of your comfort zone and embark on a magical and challenging journey of the Indian sub-continent; a journey that brings together unique experiences and challenges; a journey packed with meaningful activities as well as fun. You will meet local people, live in a community with backpackers from all over the world and be surrounded by new colors, scents and flavors.

This is an invitation to a spiritual journey to southern India’s Tamil Nadu State – a fascinating and less traveled area on the shores of the Indian Ocean in the heart of a primeval forest. This unique experience combines volunteering for a cause together with excursions and sightseeing in southern India and where you can pick up some of the language and learn about the local culture and geography.

You're about to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience India first hand through interacting and working with the local population. The LeadEarth program is fun as much as it is intensive. All the participants initiate, plan and lead empowerment programs. They volunteer in various environmental and social projects and pursue cultural and educational studies in a young, informal and fun environment. In addition to the courses and field work, you will enjoy Israel’s outdoors, night-scene, culture and get to know the laid-back side of Israel. Moreover, you will get most weekends and holidays off so you can do some sightseeing, meet friends and family or just relax. During the week you will also get some free time, when the schedule allows.
You can see how your day will roughly look like in the brochures attached on the right.

What experiences are waiting for me in Israel?
We know that Israel has a lot more to offer than Falafel, Masada and the Tel Aviv beach, so we decided to steer things in a different direction. What does this mean? Well, lots of hikes off the beaten track, interactions with some of Israel’s leading social and environmental entrepreneurs, outdoor camping and in general, an opportunity to see a different Israel. Oh, and if you're still interested – we can throw in some Falafel, Masada and Tel Aviv.
In addition we are planning for you:
- Survival adventure crash course – dealing with uncertainty and stress while taking care of oneself and of the group.
- Israeli culture, cuisine, geography and history – lectures, group meetings, performances, seminars and excursions to the lesser known parts of the country.
- Tours throughout the country – from northern Israel with its snow and ski resort to the majestic deserts of the south.
- "Real" Hebrew – how do you shop at a "Makolet" (bodega) in Hebrew? How do you order in restaurants? How do you work in Hebrew and most importantly, how do you find a common language with only a few words?

The foundation of LeadEarth stemmed from the desire to address a broad range of questions and issues regarding Judaism, ecology, self identity and aims to enable people to explore these issues through a diversity of experiences in order to gain a better understanding of themselves and of the world around them, using the tools acquired to affect real changes in society.
However, if there are issues that are close to your heart which you believe should be part of the program, LeadEarth is the perfect platform to share with others. So tell us what's on your mind and we'll try to put together a program that has something for everyone.

We are looking for college graduates (or students), and/or people with experience in communal or environmental volunteer projects. People who wish to gain experience and establish their own path in the social and environmental field are also welcomed to apply.

I am not Jewish. Can I apply?
Yes you can. Even though non-Jewish participants will not be able to get grants from MASA organization, we welcome everyone who wants to join our fascinating journey.

Is the program connected to any Jewish affiliation?
As a non-affiliated organization, we respect all streams of Judaism. You will be free to practice Judaism on your own level and we ask all participants to respect one another and maintain an open mind. The appropriate conditions will be provided for participants who observe the laws of Kashrus and practice religious Judaism on a daily basis, including in-suite kitchenettes, free weekends etc.

Do I need to know Hebrew to apply?
Knowledge of Hebrew or Tamil is not a prerequisite. You will learn some basic spoken Hebrew during the program. All classes in Israel and most of the communication in India are in English. In addition, you will have the chance to take Tamil classes and learn other languages as well.

I am over 25. Can I apply to this program?
Yes you can. We are looking for people until the age of 32. We are doing our best to create social groups that have the same background.

LeadEarth is a sustainability training program – from the living locations, through training and professional study program to the volunteer activity, all coming together to create a unique experience.
For us, sustainability is a way of life and not a one-time experience. That's why our program is “green” from top to bottom, enabling us to examine how close we really are to nature and what we are doing to it.
The professional study program is varied and is comprised of theory and practice which will afford you the appropriate tools to continue with your own project, anywhere you choose.

As part from our goals, MASA LeadEarth program includes:
- Professional training in the various fields of eco-sustainability such as permaculture, renewable energy, environmental studies, organic farming, the maintenance and enhancement of water resources and more.
- An opportunity to plan, initiate and lead an ecological project in Israel and in India which corresponds to the needs of local communities in both countries while aiming to preserve the local nature and resources.
- Accommodations on an eco-farm in India which is based on renewable energy, organic farming, composting toilets and green building among others.
- A diploma in environmental and ecological studies.

Why do I need to pay the registration fees?
There are 2 reasons for the payment of the registration fee (the 3rd step of the registration process):
1. The process requires a lot of people, financial and time resources.
2. The most important reason is that we want to make sure that you are serious about applying to this program, which has many people who interested in.
